The Kohl Center is a 15,359-seat multi-purpose arena in Madison, Wisconsin. The arena, which opened in 1998, is the home of the University of Wisconsin Madison Badgers men's basketball and ice hockey teams and the women's ice hockey team. It was named after former United States Senator Herb Kohl, who donated $25 million of his own money toward its construction. It also hosted a Milwaukee Bucks exhibition game during the 1999 2000 NBA season and the 2000 Democratic National Convention.

The arena is named after former United States Senator Herb Kohl, who donated $25 million of his own money toward its construction. Because of this donation, the state was able to pay for most of the remaining costs without using tax dollars.

The center opened on January 26, 1998 as a replacement for the UW Field House, which was built in 1952 as a home to both the men's basketball and hockey teams. At the time of its construction it was the largest indoor arena in Wisconsin.

The arena is located on the southeast side of campus, near the southeast border of the campus and directly south of Camp Randall Stadium. It also holds large amounts of seating for a variety of other events including concerts, graduation ceremonies and convocations. The arena floor has almost 100,000 sq ft (9,300 m2) of space and has seating for up to 17,230 for end-stage concerts, 15,359 for basketball and 13,609 for ice hockey.

Above the arena's seating area is an enclosed 20000 sq ft (1,900 m2) atrium with a 1/8-mile (200 m) suspended walkway that provides views into both ends of the arena below it. The structure is a steel frame with concrete to provide protection from blasts going off inside or outside the building.

In 2017 it will host a regional semifinal (Sweet Sixteen) of the 2017 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. This will be its sixth time hosting early rounds of this tournament; it also hosted second/third rounds in 2002, 2006, 2011 and 2013.
