Sun Prairie is a city in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city's population was 29,441 at the 2010 U.S. Census. Sun Prairie has a total area of about 6 square miles which accounts for its relatively low population density compared to other cities in Wisconsin. The town was incorporated as a village in 1903 and as a city on October 11, 1961.
